Overview

Heat-N-Glo's Cozy Grate Fireplace Heater turns an ordinary masonry fireplace into an efficient woodburning fireplace. More than 40,000 BTU's per hour will be pushed into the room by the themostatically controlled blower. Operation is simple; the Blower automatically turns on at 110° F and Off at 90° F.

  • Fits Fireplace Opening: 29 1/4" Wide to 51 1/4" Wide and 22" Deep
  • Variable speed 100 CFM blower pushes up to 40,000 BTUs per hour into the room.
  • Can be used with or without glass doors.
  • Heavy 12 Gauge Steel Tubing Guaranteed 3 Years
  • For use with woodburning fireplaces only
Details

Simply replace your old fireplace grate with the Cozy Grate Heater, plug in the 9' power cord and build a fire. Within minutes the firebox will reach 110° and begin to blow heat from the thermostatically controlled blower. Once your firebox temperature reaches 90°, the blower turns off automatically.

The versatile unit can be used with or without a glass door. If used with a glass door, the door sits on top of the bar and would be elevated 1 3/8" high. The log basket measures 11" high at the front and 8" high in the rear and 9 1/4" deep. Designed for masonry fireplaces, not intended for zero-clearance fireplaces.

Note: The Cozy Grate heater should run on high for 10-15 minutes, on initial start up. This will add longevity to the life of the motor.

In the case of a power outage you will need to remove the unit from your fireplace before lighting a fire.

I'm pretty happy with it

It does a nice job of blowing the heat into the room but, as others have mentioned, the blower is pretty noisy. Sure wish there was a way to quiet it some. Otherwise, I'm happy with it.

Love it

I had purchased a really expensive fireplace insert and had too much trouble keeping the glass clean. They removed it in spring and now in gall i ordered the Cozy Grate and love it! It works well heating the large living room. Fan is a little louder than the insert was. But for the price? I can live with it. I only wish I would have done this in the first place! I highly recommend this if it fits your fireplace opening and it did work with our doors. Do you measuring first, ask questions if you are unsure and you too will be happy!

very happy

am very pleased with the heater. it works just as described. we
have already tried it and find that even at lowest speed it sends
plenty of warm air out into the living room. we expect to use less
wood.

time for a new one

We put one of these in when we built our house 24 years ago. It has had continuous cold weather use and has been a faithful cold weather friend. Now, after 24 tough working years, it is tired and ready to be replaced. It certainly served us way beyond the three year warranty! We definitely recommend this product for supplemental heat. The cats love it!

Robert's Comment; We do carry blower parts for the Cozy Grate Heater if that is what is wearing out.

to much$$

Really!? I know the company put these reviews up cause my inlaws, parents and I all got this and not for nothing- should have just spent a little more and installed a wood insert.

Robert's Comment: I assure you we DO NOT fabricate the reviews on our website. I agree that these grate heaters are expensive but they do work very well. I will also agree with you that a fireplace insert is better since you can control the fire better and get a longer burn and more heat. However, a fireplace insert is quite a bit more costly considering the need for a chimney liner and many people still want to retain the look of a natural fireplace.

good product, excellent delivery

This fireplace heater puts out a good amount of heat with a moderate amount of motor noise. The design of the grate causes the coals to stay in the grate instead of falling through, which means more maintenance of the fire to keep it going, but that is a minor problem. Trimming the metal frame to length required some skill with a hacksaw and file, but once installed looks good. Overall very happy with the product, but a redesign of the grate would make it even better.

Very nice addition to my fireplace

Since the purchase of my first house 6 years ago, my family has been enjoying wood burning fireplace every year, However, heat delivery was so poor so someone sitting more than a foot away from the furnace did not really feel any heat. Unfortunately, the unit we received was defective. But customer service was very helpful for trouble shooting and replacement process. We received a new unit 4 days ago and we already used twice. This really works!

Great Product

Bought this product back in 2008 - very pleased with it! Just looked up the website as a friend wanted to know where I bought it - decided you definitely earned a 5 star review after 4 years of continuous use!

Works great but the fan is a little too loud. Not sure anything can be done about that.

This product is awesome. It provides a lot of heat. We heat the main part of the house with it which is about 1000sq ft. We have to keep a small fire or it gets too hot. The motor and blower is a little louder than we had hoped but we are getting used to it.

Great Grate, Was delivered on time as promised. Only thing i find is that the fan can be a little noisy from time to time depending on what speed it is running, but i just trun the volume up on the tv and all is fine.

I bought the Grate Heater last fall, using the President's economic stimulus check on this fine American made product. It was easy to install, works GREAT, and has probably saved a bit of money on home heating oil!

It has worked great for my daughter and her husband in their house. It makes use of ther firewood I saved and split it from the October 2006 unexpected snow storm that hit Western New York. Better use of the wood rather a land fill.

    • can his unit be used with Heatlator model st-42A see through wood burning fireplace
    • The Cozy Grate can be used in a see-thru fireplace but it isn't designed specifically for it. The heat will only blow out the front of one side. I haven't seen a fireplace heater specifically for a see-thru fireplace....Robert

    • I have a fireplace screen with glass doors that attaches to the front of the fireplace. The bottom frame is 2" high, wouldn't that interfere with the airflow?
    • Mike, Yes, if you were to put the cozy grate into the fireplace with out elevating the door it would interfere with the air flow. You would need to make sure that you would be able to elevate your existing glass fireplace door 1 3/8". For installation you would remove your fireplace insert the Cozy Grate Heater and then preposition the glass door on top of the riser bar. This will elevate the glass door 1 3/8".

    • My glass doors have slots all along the front edge. They are about a quarter inch wide, two inches tall and spaced half an inch apart. Could I let a grate heater blow through these slots? The door frame assembly is very tight and I can't raise it.
    • Thank you for your question. The frame of the glass door will need to be raised to accommodate the bottom trim bar of the cozy grate heater . To avoid blowing smoke into the room the trim bar should be flush with the fireplace opening.

  • From Gary at 12/3/2012 11:42 PM
    • Is the graphic correct when it shows the air going in at the motor and out the opposit side? I need the hot air to come out on the left side as looking at the fireplace. So I should get the motor on the right side? I have electric sockets on both sides so the cord placement is not a problem.
    • Thank you for your question. The Cozy Grate heater has a left hand motor option or the right hand motor option. This will be as your facing the fireplace. The side that the motor is on will be the side that the cord comes out. The right hand is the most popular option and the left hand motor is a special order piece.
