We purchased this at the end of the fireplace usage, but with the colde spring we did get to use it often before it warmed up. It works nicely and is very handy with the longer handles. The tong part itself grips odd shapes of wood firmly. We have bought other fireplace accessories from Northline and find them all very nice, well made products for not a lot of money spent.
