BOUGHT THIS FOR A CHRISTMAS GIFT AND SEASONED IT BEFORE USING BY BAKING IN OVEN COATED WITH OIL BUT IT DID NOT PREVENT IT FROM RUSTING BECAUSE NOT EVEN ONE MONTH AND THE BOTTOM IS RUSTED. VERY DISAPPOINTED SINCE THIS POT IS VERY HEAVY AND I WOULD OF THOUGHT IT TO BE OF GOOD QUALITY BUT IT WAS NOT. MAY HAVE TO SETTLE FOR ONE THAT HAS A PORCELAIN COATED BOTTOM.
Seems to work ok for humidifier with trivet on our wood stove - NOT for heating drinking water in case anyone is wanting that type of kettle. Doing what it's designed to do.
worth the money I paid, saw other pots for more money that wasn't made as good.

I bought this kettle to help humidify my home since I heat with a wood stove. Looks much more decroative than the open pot I was using to this point. Initially I didn't get the water to vaporize quickly enough so I just opened the lid slightly. Works perfect!Good value for the buck! Oh yes, season it first... and for the sake of your marriage, do it in the barbeque not the kitchen stove.

- Thank you for the email on how and why to season a kettle. The reason you would want to season a kettle is that they are made of cast iron and will rust if not properly maintained. The easiest was to season or cure a cast iron kettle is to lightly cover the item inside and out with vegetable or olive oil then back in the oven until the oil is dry. This will provide a protective layer on the kettle. You will want to re-season or re-cure the item after every wash or any signs of rust.
