Heavy duty and large.
Wow, this thing is heavy. We have a large fireplace and had trouble finding a large grate for it. Once I found this I was pretty happy. But when I found what a heavy duty grate it is I was very pleased. I believe this grate will outlast me.

Not a lifetime grate
I love this grate as long as it holds together, which is two years maximm. We burn oak firewood and it burns hot, so the very first year I lose two or three pieces off the grate. By the end of the second season it's done for. I wish they made this one in stainless steel with better welding, because if you have frequent hot fires, it simply won't hold up. Still, it's the best thing I've been able to locate, and this is my fourth one in six years I'm just now ordering. It does a fantastic job for folks who like a big fire, but expect it to start breaking up pretty soon after a few hot fires.

A terrific grate. Well worth the money. We had grates made yearly and they always burned out or sagged or both. We got this one 6 wks ago and it seems to be holding up. We have great hot fires almost nightly.
