- Looking at your 8" chimney cap # 9684, details claims that the screen is sold separately. And you don't even have a place to order a screen. why would someone by a cap without a screen?
This is like looking at a new car on a showroom floor and you tell the salesman you want the car and the salesman says by the way tires and rims are extra, Right! - We have added the screen as an related item to this item, our oversight. The spark screen is also available in the cart when checking out. DuraVent made the decision to not include the screen with the cap. Most full time wood burners do not want a screen on their cap because in colder temperatures with a slow burn (and especially at high altitudes); the screen can clog up with creosote very quickly causing smoke to backup into the home. Therefore it was a safety concern to not include the screen as sparks rarely escape that far up the chimney. However, many homeowners like the spark screen to keep out critters. It's your choice.
