Draft Inducers From Enervex Fan

Back to the Enervex Fans

Do you have a draft problem in your fireplace, stove or furnace that you just can't cure? Badly proportioned corner fireplaces and see-through fireplaces almost always have drafting problems. Other fireplaces, stoves and furnaces may have problems due to incorrect chimney sizes or fireplace openings that are too large. The list goes on and on but now there is a solution to all of these problems.

The Enervex Fan is the ultimate solution to your drafting problems in fireplaces, stoves, BBQ's, furnaces and more. It can be used with almost any type of fuel including wood, gas, oil, coal, or pellets. The Enervex Fan (also known as a Draft Inducer) can be used on masonry chimneys, prefab chimneys (using an adapter), and even on horizontal direct vent fireplaces for example.  With the Enervex Fan you no longer have to re-build your chimney, close down your fireplace, or rush to add logs to your smoking wood stove. By creating a mechanical draft in the venting system the Enervex Fan increases the capacity and efficiency of your venting system.

The Enervex Fan mounts to the top of your chimney's flue, where it literally sucks the smoke from the flue. It's motor is completely enclosed and maintenance free with air-cooled, pre-lubricated, sealed ball bearings. It comes with a pre-wired junction box that will need to be mounted to the chimney, a fan speed control similar to a dimmer switch to be installed near the fireplace, and a bird screen to keep out pests. The Enervex Fan is designed for minimum energy use consumption, using about as much energy as a regular light bulb. Made of 3/16" thick cast aluminum and stainless steel these Draft Inducers are made to last and extremely corrosion resistant.

Some local codes prohibit the use of chimney fans on gas and oil furnaces. Check your local codes to be sure. Enervex Fans should always be wired in such a way that the furnace cannot work if the fan does not work, there are options for this type of installation once you choose the correct fan.  We strongly urge you to have a professional electrician install this product.

To order your Enervex Fan follow the steps below.

Step 1:

To ensure you choose the correct Enervex Fan you will need to measure the inside of your flue. Next, match up your inside flue dimensions with the proper flue dimensions listed below. This will give you your "Type Code".

Example: Your inside flue dimensions measure 10" x 10" Square, your type code is D.

Common Flue Types and Sizes

Round

Square

Rectangle

Size Type Code Size Type Code Size Type Code
6" A 6" x 6" A 6" x 10" C
7" B 7" x 7" B 7" x 11" C
8" C 8" x 8" C 8" x 12" D
9" C 9" x 9" C 9" x 13" D
10" D 10" x 10" D 10" x 14" E
11" D 11" x 11" D 11" x 15" E
12" E 12" x 12" E 12" x 16" E
13" E 13" x 13 E 13" x 18" F
14" E 14" x 14" E 14" x 19" F
15" F 15" x 15" F 15" x 20" F
16" F 16" x 16" F
    17" x 17" F

Step 2:

Calculate the fireplace opening size in square inches (width x height). In this next chart go to the far left column and find the flue type (this is the "type code" from Step 1: A-F). Then, follow the line across to the appropriate Enervex Fan model. For see-through fireplaces calculate the area of each side. Then add 100% of the largest side and 50% of the other side. Use this combined area to calculate the fan size below.

Example 1: Your single sided fireplace measures 32" wide x 26" high. 36" x 26" = 832 square inches. If your "Type Code" was "D" you would go with the RS12.

Example 2: Your double sided fireplace measures 38" wide x 24" high on it's largest side and 36" wide x 24" high on it's smaller side. Side 1 = 912 square inches and Side 2 = 864 square inches. 100% of it's largest side (Side 1 at 912 sq. inches) is added to 50% of smaller side (Side 2 at 864 sq. inches). 50% of side 2 = 432 square inches therefore 912 square inches + 432 square inches = 1344 square inches.
