Thermo-Rite Special-Z Custom Fireplace Door Frame Finishes

The Special-Z Custom zero-clearance door is an anodized aluminum enclosure with a 7/8" wide frame. This enclosure is available as an inside fit only. The Special-Z comes with a Standard Black finish, or you may choose to upgrade your Special Z with one of the optional finishes listed below: Standard Black, Bronze Iron, Copper, Fine Textured Brown, Gold Antique Vein, Grey Iron, Moss Iron, Natural Iron, New Rust, Old Copper, Old Iron, Silver Antique Vein, Fine Textured Black, Textured Chestnut and Textured Rust.

The Special Z Glass Door is a custom zero-clearance enclosure for a pre-fabricated, factory built fireplace (not a masonry fireplace) and is designed for an inside fit only. The Special Z is an anodized aluminum enclosure with a 7/8" wide frame. When ordering a custom zero-clearance enclosure, you will need to have the make and model of your enclosure. Your make and model should be on a metal tag inside your fireplace, usually near the upper front.

    • when this fireplace door (special z custom zero clearance enclosure) says it is for an inside fit only, does that mean I could not put in on the outside masonry(decorative masonry facade & hearth) opening of the fireplace? or does this simply mean that it would fit on the inside of the outside enclosure? furthermore, is there an overlap on the sides that would jut against the masonry enclosure outside of the firebox?
    • Kate, The Special Z Custom Zero Clearance fireplace door is made to fit zero clearance or pre-fab fireplaces, they are not made to fit a masonry fireplace as they will fit into the frame or track in the opening of the zero clearance fireplace. There is no overlap for it to be secured to a masonry fireplace or masonry facade.
