Have used the grate numerous times and have been pleased with its weight and solid feel. The curvature of the grate does help in retaining the wood. The best thing is in the dying moments of the fire, the remaining wood does accumulate in the boottom of the grate insuring that everything is burnt.
The only bad feature of this grate in that the very bottom is not very high above the floor of the fireplace. The legs could have been much higher.
