I am so very happy with this purchase! The Heritage Fireplace Door set is everything it claims to be and actually much more impressive than the photographs and descriptions convey. The enclosure certainly has that 'built to last' look, feel, and function about it.
I bought this along with a Cozy Grate heater and a fireback. Both of which I am also very pleased with. The combination of these three items saved $1000 - $2000 over the other options of a fireplace insert or plumbing in a free standing woodstove.
I feel that my fireplace's performance now matches that of the other options with the very large bonus of not loosing the full view. Other pluses include not having to mess with my flue and damper, and not having to consult with my building department or alert my insurance company. Because there were no 'structural changes'.
The fireplace door set installed pretty quickly and easily. I wished they'd supplied some fireplace roping and/or masonry caulking to fill some of the small gaps I was left with in the surround, but this just meant $20 at the local hardware store.
I'd buy it again, but I know I won't have to.

The purchase experience was excellent. The gentleman who helped take my order was extremely helpful and deserves recognition for his great can-do attitude.
The door itself is extremely well made. The draft function however needs improved as it does not have enough control. You either push the vent open or pull it closed in which case it does not cut completely cut off the flow of air. It is such a simple concept that I would think it would be easy to improve this feature.

The build quality of the frame and doors is excellent. I'm truly impressed with the tightness of construction and how easily the doors operate especially compare to my previous unit. However, I am a little disappointed with the sliding screen. When the unit is cool, the screen operates smoothly and easily. But when the unit is hot, the screen grabs the rod and is very difficult to open. The problem seems to be that the rod is painted/coated and when the rod is hot, the paint/coating becomes tacky and grabs the screen loops.
