The fireback really does throw more heat out into the room. This item arrived with a hole worn through the cardboard box on the eagle's chest, but being in the fireplace, it didn't matter. There were no maintenance instructions for cleaning or repainting.
The fireback is just as described and a beautiful addition to our fireplace. The feet make cleaning ashes a little more difficult, but worth it for the extra protection to the masonry and the extra heat produced from the fire. The bottom has turned light grey from fires while the top portion is still grey/black. I am hoping with more fires the whole panel will patina and have the light grey color. Great detail in the eagle.
