Note that polyester does burn - my husband dropped a chunk of burning log out of the woodstove and of course it turned a section of the rug black. We then ordered a fiberglass rug! But this rug is attractive and does the job of protecting your hearth, hardwood floor or nearby carpet.
Just what I wanted and it blends well w/the Oriental rugs! Now I don't worry as much about sparks getting to the hardwood flooring.
