The Cougar Quiet Ash Vac is similar to the Cheetah Ash Vac but a bit quieter. It can suck up warm and cold ashes! Using a fire-resistant hose and a specially designed filtering system for ash, the Ash Vac solves the problem of removing ash from wood burning stoves and fireplaces safely.
The Cougar uses a filter system consisting of two filters. The first filter is flame retardant for precautionary reasons. The second filter traps sub-micron particles (ash) and has a special snap spring assembly allowing for easier cleaning. The Ash-Vac features a 5' flame-resistant hose, 3-gallon capacity container, and a powerful 6-amp motor. Comes with a one year warranty and includes one set of filters. I haven't used any other ash vac but this one seems to do the job without a problem. I am careful to let the fire burn down overnight so I get very few live coals in the morning. Used as instructed I get almost all of the soft ash and leave the charcoal for the next fire. I only empty it about once a week and afer two months have not had to replace any of the filtration components. My wife says, if this is the quiet one I'd hate to hear the noisey one. But I have to say it is much quieter than my craftsman shop vac. Without doubt, I am very pleased.

We have a pellet stove and use the vacuum daily to clean it. I love not having to wait hours to let the ash become cold. I highly recommend anyone purchasing choose the quiet version!
Vacuum is great. I use it about twice a week to clean the ash out of my pellet stove. It cleans up quietly and there is zero mess. I haven't emptied the vacuum yet - we'll see how that goes.
