The Cougar Quiet Ash Vac is similar to the Cheetah Ash Vac but a bit quieter. It can suck up warm and cold ashes! Using a fire-resistant hose and a specially designed filtering system for ash, the Ash Vac solves the problem of removing ash from wood burning stoves and fireplaces safely.
The Cougar uses a filter system consisting of two filters. The first filter is flame retardant for precautionary reasons. The second filter traps sub-micron particles (ash) and has a special snap spring assembly allowing for easier cleaning. The Ash-Vac features a 5' flame-resistant hose, 3-gallon capacity container, and a powerful 6-amp motor. Comes with a one year warranty and includes one set of filters. This unit is 20" high, has a 1-1/4" diameter hose opening, and holds up to 3 gallons of ash. Click here to read the owners manual.

What you can safely vacuum
We advise that you always allow enough time for all embers to completely die and cool off, and offer these guidelines to give you a feel for how fire resistant our fabric filters are.
What we refer as a “firefly" is unlikely to burn a hole in our filter. A firefly is like the tiny spark that floats up out of a fireplace, and it glows for no longer than a firefly – about a second before it burns out.
What we refer to as a “cigarette" could potentially burn a hole in our filter. It is a piece/chunk of partially burned fuel (wood or pellet) that has a red hot glowing ember attached, much like a cigarette. These carry enough fuel with them, that, if lodged against the filter, with swirling air, could heat up and damage the filter.
If you need to clean a pellet stove while the contents in the pot still seem warm, the best way to ensure your AshVac only picks up only ash, and not large hot embers, is to rest the nozzle at an angle directly on the bottom of the pot, and then move it around so it sucks fine ash particles from the bottom of the pile. The narrow opening between the pot floor and nozzle allows ash through, but blocks larger material, including hot embers that are large enough to be problematic.

Excellent product. My husband loves it. Great shipping- arrived on time just for Christmas!!
I've been cleaning a pellet stove for 11 yrs. & always dreaded it. This is so much easier. Wish I had purchased long ago. Thanks so much!!!
Was using my shop vac to clean my pellet stove. Not a good thing to do, kept cloging and went through many filters. Received the Cougar for xmas and it is just what was needed. No cloging and the filters will last longer with the shaker. Some reviews have indicated that it is noisy. Guess what folks, it's a vacuum. I would recommend this vac to anyone with a pellet stove.
item purchased works exactly like I expected.
It works well in picking up the ash outside the fireplace. I am hesitant to use it to remove ash from within the fireplace while the fire is burning-as my husband want to do. He thinks the filter gets bogged down easily. I bought it after he burned up 2 regular vacuum sweeper bags. One still smells like smoke. At least the Ash Vac hasn't burned.
