The hood was easy to install and has fulfilled the job we got it for, which was to protect the matlepiece, by diredting heat out into the main room.
Product does a very good job, but I had to cut down the mounting brackets to lower the hood closer to the fireplace opening. This helped deflect the heat out into the room and keep the wooden mantle from getting too hot.
