There are lots of cookware materials out there, but cast iron still trumps them all with its even heating, heat retention, price, and duration. The King Kooker Cast Iron Griddle features a 14" x 28" cooking surface. This dual sided griddle gives you the versatility of cooking many different varieties of foods.
The flat side of this reversible griddle is ideal for pancakes, French toast, or eggs, while its opposite ribbed grilling side works great for bacon, chicken, beef, or any foods with fatty drippings.
Use & Care of your Cast Iron Cookware
Your new cast iron cookware will last a lifetime with proper care and seasoning. Seasoning is the process of allowing oil to be absorbed into the iron, which creates a natural non-stick, rustproof finish.
- Wash your new cookware with hot, soapy water and a stiff brush.
- Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Apply a thin coat of vegetable shortening to the entire surface, both inside and out.
- Preheat oven to 350°, line the bottom rack of your oven with aluminum foil to catch droppings.
- Place cast iron cookware upside down on the top shelf of your oven and bake for one hour.
- After one hour turn off stove and let the cookware remain in the oven until cool.
- Store in a cool dry place.
- If you have a lid for your cookware, place a paper towel between the lid and the cookware to allow air to circulate.
- If your cookware develops a metallic smell or taste or shows signs of rust simply wash with soap and hot water, scour off rust, and re-season.
- After using clean with a stiff brush and hot water only, dry immediately and apply a really thin coat of vegetable shortening while still warm.
