We have a stream running through our property. The stream develops stagnant little pools throughout it, which, in turn, attracts breeding mosquitoes.
Mosquito Barrier is our solution for this issue, and it works great. We use it according to the directions, and it clears the little buzz bombs right out of the creek and off our property as well.
I highly recommend this product for mosquitoes. It doesn't harm our stream; and since our property is also wooded, it goes a long way in helping us enjoy our summers.
All Hype as far as I'm concerned
I was suckered into buying this garlic juice by all the good reviews here and on Amazon dot com at the time.
It did ABOSLUTELY nothing to kill or repel mosquitos for me on my property, but I loved the smell. I thought my wife was making fun of me and the product when she said she kept getting bit, but her legs looked like she was a piece of button candy, you know, that candy stuck onto a strip of paper. OK, enough with me making jokes about it. It is one big, big waste of money and time and energy. I applied it at double strength, which the label says is OK to use it at. There were mosquitos flying all around me as I was spraying the stuff. I felt like I was in complete control as I was spraying it, wiping them out of existence on contact. Boy was I wrong! I paid 81 bucks for a gallon of this stuff with shipping. I used half a gallon of it already. The label says it is effective for up to 5 acres at normal dosage, but I have only 1/3 acre of property and did 4 applications. I didn't work out the math on this, but I completely drenched every plant, blade of grass and ground on my property. Maybe I did more than double dosage rate. It did not kill any plants, vegetables butterflies or animals, which is great, but the mosquitos? not them either. What a big, big disappointment. I think anybody that wrote a good review on this stuff must still believe in the tooth fairy.
If your curiosity makes you still wants to try it yourself, do yourself a big favor and buy just a quart to start, then YOU decide if you want more.
This is not even, in my opinion worth ONE star. Although, I love the smell of garlic
Works great - Love it!
We have battled mosquitoes for years, but this works great! Only complaint I have is the bottle - it spills every time we pour it. We have tried funnels, but nothing has worked. We waste quite a bit just from that. BUT, the product is amazing!!!
Our yard is 1/3 acre and mosquitos and gnats are terrible. You can't go out for even a minute without smacking and waving constantly. After spraying heavily, you can go out and enjoy with only a few bugs here and there. I reapply when they come back. Really depends on many factors (amount of rain, humidity, heat, time of year, etc.) so reapply as needed. It does smell like you live next to a garlic bagel factory, which I love, but others might not. Beats the smell of insect repellent and other things. Highly recommend. Am curious to try the addition of 1 to 1 veg. oil and spray to increase time between spraying.
This stuff is fantastic
The smell goes away very quickly - we spray every few weeks, as needed, in a wooded area around an open gazebo. NO MORE CO TANKs or harmful chemicals. Such a relief!
I found this product after a long online search for something safe. Some towns in Connecticut are using this for parks - environmentally friendly and so effective. Good for dogs and kids. Bad for mosquitos.
(Interesting suggestion by previous reviewer to add some veg oil to promote adhesion. Will try that.
Interesting fact- mosquitos are local populations - you only need to control the area of your yard you use.
So far, awesome!
I am starting with 4 stars - I just applied the barrier this evening. We were immediately able to sit on the deck for about an hour at dusk. I just got home from grocery shopping and brushed the heavy bushes in the back - NOTHING came out! So far this is amazing. I'll update in a couple of days.
seems to have little impact
our backyard is like a bar to 22 year old mosquitos. They come out with all their friends and find unsuspecting humans to drink unlimited amounts of blood. This is a problem we must solve if we want to go outside our screens and not take baths in deet.
We bought a gallon of this stuff, a small yard, apply once every other week, summer should be better. 3 applications later, we seem to have minimal success. We spray it on tree branches, our house, fences, decks, grass, everywhere!
The smell is there for a couple days- oh yeah it does have a strong smell, but isn't bad. The first day after spraying we get the sense there are less bugs, I notice one or two, but not a party. By the 3rd day, it is back to normal. Smell is gone, and mosquitos are in full thirst mode. I went out to pick up a few things in the yard (even had bugspray on my legs) and ended up with 10 bites in just a few minutes. To me that isn't the sign of a working product.
I am not sure if this matters, but we live in the Raleigh, NC area with a good amount of woods. The humidity might be a factor, maybe the type of mosquitos. Onto the next experiment.
great and safe product
been using for over 5 years on commercial and residentual properties, i have never had one complaint, if its not working your not applying it right. there isnt any product that will keep 100% away from you, but this is pretty close.
I used this in my yard Memorial weekend and July 4th weekend, my husband was skeptical when I told him about it, but he saw that it worked. It did not get rid of all the bugs, but it defiantly reduced them to just a few. I love it and so does he.
We live in Northern Michigan and are surrounded by woods. I was getting a little tired of not being able to sit out by the bonfire or even on my deck without being carried away by mosquitoes so I started looking around and I found this mosquito barrier. I was a little skeptical of it at first so I just bought the quart however after the first time of using it I was sold 100%. It didnt get rid of all the mosquitoes however it took the vast majority of them away. I can actually sit outside and not be constantly smacking my arms and kicking my legs now and that is great. I have even bought this to take camping with us. I mix it up at home and once we get to the campsite prior to setting up camp I get out and spray all over the campsite, I have even sprayed neighboring campsites if they are not there yet. I did find though on years that the mosquitoes are just unbearable I just double the amount of barrier I use to the same amount of water and I have my miracle stuff back.
