quality of the unit
I think I have everyone beat here! I purchased my first skeetervac back in 2001 and it finally gave in this year and wouldn't start. It is similar in appearance to the SV15 model. I immediately bought the SV3100 because I cannot be without it where I live. I hope the new SV3100 lives up to the old unit. It has been a fabulous machine over 12 years and I always said that if it ever died I would buy another. A note to all from experience: if you ever have trouble starting the unit in the Spring don't forget to clean out the propane inline filter in the hose that connects to the head of the unit. It's a really tiny ceramic filter so be sure it doesn't drop out and you lose it. Blow it out with a compressor and replace it and it should fire right up. I maintain my unit every year before I put it out so it is cleaned well and I even dismount and clean the circuit board that houses the little lights because it too gets covered in dust and pollen over time. Take care of it and it should last you as long as it has lasted me. Also, you may have to change locations in your yard at first until you hit the sweet spot where the unit will do a fantastic job. Good luck to all.

TacTrap is dangerous for birds
Within less than one hour of installing our new Skeetervac the only thing we had caught was a poor songbird! After spending hours trying to free the bird we ended up finding a wildlife rehabilitator who said this type of incident is very common and deadly for birds. The TacTrap is optional - if you have any birds in your area please don't use it! I wanted to let others know about our experience so that it won't happen again.

We live next to a large wooded area and during the summer and most of fall you cannot step foot out of doors without a serious dousing of mosquito repellant for fear of being eaten alive. When friends come to visit they run from their car to our front door and beg to come in quick because the mosquitos are so bad. I set up my SkeeterVac just before I left on a 2 1/2 week vacation. When we returned we arrived in the evening prime mosquito time and were surprised when we got out of the car that we weren't immediately attacked. The next day I talked to my neighbors and they all mentioned there seem to be almost no mosquitos. I have not put on an ounce of mosquito repellant since. I can't tell you how happy I am. So are my neighbors.

Skeeter Vac does the job nicely. New improvements over previous models is quite good. But leaves a big footprint killing the lawn under it. I had to make a wheeled platform for it to ease the moving process.

Love my new SkeeterVac! It works well, is easy to assemble and start, does not require excessive expense in additional item purchases, and is not as temperamental as similar mosquito trap products I have used in the past.
This is a good product from a good supplier.

So far I'm very impressed with the SV3100. We have been plagued with Mosquitos and biting insects for ever. I've been running the unit for about 2 months now and the bugs appear to be GONE! The unit is not cheap nor is the propane gas to run it. A tank of propane last about 1 month, but for me it is worth it.

My backyard is woods with a swamp across the street. I have used this for 3 years with never an issue. My daughters and wife can be outside without worries of being chased inside because of being bitten. The maintenance is easy and I have yet to have any issue with either unit that I purchased. Great product and I now have 5 family members and friends that own this product who are all very satisfied.

I purchased mine 2 1/2 years ago. Running as strong now as right out of the box. I live in south Georgia near both the coastal marshes and the Okeefenokee Swamp. The mosquitoes were so bad that you could not go outside for more than a few minutes after dark. After the first 2 weeks the difference was like night and day. My family was able to enjoy our yard anytime we wanted. A wonderful side benefit is that the skeetervac also has killed millions of the biting gnats, I almost accused my kids of throwing sand on the sticky trap until i realized it was covered completely with dead gnats. Horse flies and yellow flies don't stand a chance either. I am very pleased with both the effectiveness and reliability of the skeetervac. Many times people have commented on the lack of biting insects when they come over to my house and every time I give all the credit to my little friend.

We have only had this about a month but so far we have been REALLY happy with it! The bugs have been so bad this year that we could not even be out a few minutes in our yard even with deet, tiki torches etc. We checked this after 2 weeks of putting it out and had a ton of dead mosquitoes and the sticky part was loaded with flies. It was so full we ordered more sticky traps and after another 2 weeks with a new one that is full again also. The trap has a whole lot of mosquitoes also. I am very happy with this purchase so far. Northline express was great also. Product received practically over night from ordering it.

After one month of use we have seen a marked decrease in the mosquito population. We are using 2 of the 1-acre SkeeterVacs on less than an acre, so we did expect a little more improvement. We had the plastic nut that attaches the regulator hose to the propane tank break when replacing one of the tanks. It was replaced promptly by the customer service, and all is working again.

We live on a heavily wooded lot with a small pond nearby and have used another manufacturer's product for about four years. The other product was discontinued along with its supplies, so we needed to find a new unit to be able to enjoy our yard. The SV3100 is significantly more effective than the previous product we used and the customer service we've received from Northline Express and the manufacturer have also been great.

I rated the unit AVERAGE because I have not used any other and have no basis for comparison. It has worked OK. The sticky outside TaacTrap has caught all manner of strange bugs but there are not too many mosquitos in the removable tray. However it does seem that there are not as many around. I will order more bait and the TacTrap and see how it performs over time.

I've had the SkeeterVac for about two to three weeks and love it. I looked at all of the reviews and felt this brand was the best all around one. One of the reasons I selected this one was NO POWER CORD was required, just two AA batteries. I live on the river in Central Florida and could not go outside for one second without mosquitoes attacking me. I just had a pool put in my backyard without a screen. The first night my family went swimming at night we were devoured by all of the mosquitoes. Within the first week of the SkeeterVac a huge drop in mosquitoes. My kids go swimming every night now without any mosquito bites. My wife and I can sit outside by the pool at night and feel very comfortable. For the price this is the best product. I would give the SkeeterVac five stars.

I am extremely satisfied with the performance of the SkeeterVac SV3100. I catches a phenomenal number of mosquitoes and is very efficient with the consumption of the propane one tank lasted over a month non-stop operation. It is simple to install and operate. For the first time we can sit on the porch without being bothered by mosquitoes. I owned an older CO2 based trap which was nowhere as good as the SkeeterVac.

My only regret is not buying this thing sooner. We have had it 4 weeks & what a difference! We are surrounded by woods on three sides and also have large marshes at end of street. Our yard has several large oaks that are 75 - 100 years old so it's always shaded. We had been avoiding going outside even during midday because the mosquitoes swarmed us as soon as we stepped out the door. We can now be outside for hours & see only a couple of those bloodsuckers. I was concerned about the gas usage. But, I'm happy to report that our first tank lasted exactly 3 weeks. There was actually a very small amount left in the tank. But, because of reviews we read about some having a problem restarting after it ran out of gas, my husband switched tanks just before it ran out, without any interuption in operation. The first sticky trap didn't last very long because within 2 weeks it was covered solid. I anticipated this and ordered extras at the time I ordered the SkeeterVac. I can tell by the new sticky that's on there that the skeeters numbers have been greatly decreased. I am looking forward to firing it up at the beginning of the season next year & getting control before they take over.
We are very pleased with the service from this company. The price was the lowest we could find anywhere and it arrived very quickly & in excellent condition.

I purchased a SkeeterVac SV3100 after waiting for several years to purchase a unit. I did a considerable amount of research reading about various machines and checking the good and bad reviews.
I received the SV3100 in early June and placed it in service on June 8. I placed it in a shady spot in my backyard under a Beech tree. Within 2 days the tree went to seed and covered the TacTrap paper with alot of seeds which rendered the sticky paper almost useless. It was a good idea to have purchased the SV3100 as I have had good production from the light trap. I estimate that in four weeks time I have eliminated about 1,500 mosquitoes from the neighboorhood. After the first week and heaviest kill period. I counted about half the mosquitoes in the trap and stopped at 300. While I have not run out of mosquitoes I have definately reduced their numbers. Logically, the machine has not offered any problems. I replaced the 20 pound cyclinder after about 22 days of continueous service and just before the weekend of July 4th. I replaced the sticky paper then too. The paper that covered the sticky paper should be removed when the paper is installed on the machine per instructions. This second sheet of paper is doing much better at catching mosquitos and flies. The bulk of the work is being done but the lure and the light trap. I am very glad that I invested the extra money in the SV3100 and not one of the cheaper models, just due to the amount of mosquitos being captured in the screened trap. While there is the occasional mosquito that ends biting you it is far less frequent.
So far I have been happy with the results provided by the SV3100. It has been a month were you can walk across the back yard and not get overwhelmed by mosquitoes dragging you into the bushes for a lite snack.

Really wish I could give it amazing reviews, but it just doesn't seem to be catching many mosquitos for us here in central Texas. We are now using the right bait for the asian tiger mosquitos that we have here and we've tried it in various locations with varied bait tuning levels and still haven't caught many. It has caught lots of other bugs and a bird even got in a battle with the sticky sheet, but unfortunately, not many mosquitos. We're still getting eaten alive. Really sad it hasn't worked well yet. Hoping we'll still find out why others have such great luck with this machine.

I have owned a Mosquito Magnet for several years. It recently quit starting. When I contacted a repair shop, I was informed that it would cost $90 plus shipping at least, to fix. When I looked into purchasing another unit, I discovered the Skeeter Vac. I was impressed that It doesn't require electricity, as well as the ease and reliability of starting the unit. Currently, I own a Mosquito magnet that doesn't work, and a Skeeter Vac that is working as well as the Mosquito Magnet, if not better, without an electrical connection. So far it has performed admirably, with a very good catch rate. It's reliability relative to the Mosquito Magnet will be determined as time progresses.

Drastically reduced skeeter numbers. Sticky paper works like a charm, however its difficult to change without ripping it. For some time I had to change this sticky paper at least once a week because it was just covered with flys, so this product does not only work on mosquitoes but also other pesky insects. It goes through a tank of gas in about 3 weeks and I wish there was some kind of mechanism to close the trap once it runs out of gas. Once there is no suction any more all those previously caught, still alive skeeters are free to go. Other than that, its a good product. Do not expect instantaneous results - it takes approx. 3 weeks to collapse the mosquito population works by taking out pregnant females. We use it in combination with DynaTrap about 20 ft appart and the combination seems to work great.

By far, this is the best mosquito trap I have tried this year 3 in total. Based on manufacturer's website, they revised the desing in this 2008 model to more efficiently trap, and I would have to agree. In just my 1st tank use about 19 days I caught roughly 2,500 mosquitos. NO JOKE!!! Yes, the tray works wonders, buts its funny how the simplicity of some simple sticky tape on the outside works so well. That tape probably caught an additonal thousand bugs and mosquitos. It makes sense, before they can get trapped, they'll probably touch the tank and surrounding area. Overall, the only thing preventing me from giving this a full 5 stars is because re-start can be a bit of a pain my experience. Lighting and re-lighting takes a bit of practice, but a minor convenience overall. I did accidently blow out the engine on my 1st unit, my fault I admit. The reason I gave 4 starts was because Blue Rhino's customer service was so spectacular. They gave me a replacement tank at no charge other than the shipping cost of my old unit. A+ for the unit and company's customer service.
