- I need a new cap for a single stainless steel chimney coming from my oil furnace. I had a chimney guy out who said it needed a 5 and 5/8 cap All I see are 6" caps, are these adjustable? What would you suggest. He wants to charge me $375 which I think is ridiculous especially if I can get one on my own.
- Jeff, The reason that all of our caps are listed as 6" chimney caps is because they are designed to fit into 6" class A chimney pipe. The base of this cap is measures 6" but it is a compression fit cap so it has a slit in the side that will allow you to slide the base into your pipe and achieve a tight friction fit. This cap is designed for solid pack (double wall) chimney pipe and will not work with air cooled (triple wall) pipe.

- does this product fit OVER 6" triple insulated pipe? How's it installed?
- This is the wrong cap for triple wall pipe. For triple wall pipe you need to look at either the cap made specifically for your brand of pipe or look at the 6'' Air-Cooled Weathershield Cap. The Weathershield caps slide inside the 6" diameter inner pipe but the design of the cap covers the air-cooled interior pipes yet allows for air circulation....Robert
