  • John, The height of the fireplace hood that you need is generally determined by the height of your fireplace opening. The smoke guards are intended to reduce the opening of the fireplace to prevent the smoke from escaping. If you have a very tall fireplace opening we would recommend the 8 Inch smoke guard.
