- I have a mobile home with a fireplace that occasionally the smoke comes into the room. I need a draft inducer to eliminate the problem. I measured the outside circumference today and came up with 40 inches, which translates to 12.735 diameter. I did not measure the flue pipe width and am guessing it is 8 inch. Is 8 inch the industry standard for that outside chimney circumference??
THANK'S
Steve - There is no industry standard. What you need to measure is the outside and inside diameter of the chimney pipe. It sounds like you might have 8". Run a tape across the chimney with the cap off and check your size. If your fireplace smokes occasionally and especially on windy days this cap should help. Typically a fireplace will use air cooled chimney pipe and this cap is designed to fit that type of pipe. An 8" inside diameter air cooled chimney pipe will have like 12" or more outside diameter and can be identified by three walls of pipe; outer, middle, and inner. I hope that helps. Robert
