- How does the 6" flue pipe install on the fireplace?

- My husband and I would love to purchase but have no idea who to call for installation for the chimney liner. Any suggestions? Thanks
- If you are handy around the home you can attempt it yourself. If not then a heating & cooling company might do the job or a general handyman.

- The Stainless Steel Adapter that attaches the flexible stainless liner to the unit where is that on your website.....it states in the instructions this item does not come with the unit.....look on your install link and you will see which items are not included.....I can't seem to find it.
- James, Yes, you are correct that the adapter does not come with the insert because every installation is different. We have a couple options for purchasing the adapter; you can either purchase the adapter alone at http://www.northlineexpress.com/6-duraflexss-connector-6dfs-fc-6dfs-fc.html or you can purchase a kit which includes everything you will need to install your new insert in your home at http://www.northlineexpress.com/chimney/chimney-pipe-stove-pipe/chimney-liner/6-inch-chimney-liner/6-inch-duraflex-stainless-steel-chimney-liner.html we have many options to choose from.

- So will this heat a second floor too?
- Generally yes but it depends on the layout of your home and whether the heated air can travel to the second floor easily. Heat will naturally rise and you can help that happen even faster by putting in floor vents or by turning on the blower if you have a forced air furnace. We have some nice floor vents here....Robert

- My fireplace is gas.( worthless ), Can your woodburner be used to replace my gas unit?
- John, These requirements must be met first in order for this fireplace insertfireplace insert to work. Minimum chimney size is 6˝ (152mm) diameter. Maintain a 15 ft. minimum overall chimney height measured from the top of appliance to the top of the chimney. Chimneys must extend at least 3 ft. above the roof and at least 2 ft. above the highest point within 10 ft. of the chimney top. Zero Clearance and pre-fab fireplaces and chimneys must meet the minimum code specifications as noted above. Factory built zero clearance fireplaces must be listed and suitable for solid fuel use. Chimneys must be at least 7 inch diameter to accommodate a required, continuous, stainless steel liner from the insert flue collar to the top termination of the chimney.

- I live in Minnesota and was hoping to better utilize my fireplace with something like this to provide additional heat for my house and try to lower my natural gas bills in the winter. My furnace is rated at 60,000 Btu/hr input and my house is a basement and upstairs with a total of 1900 square feet. Can any input be provided as to how well something like this could heat my house, meaning have others in a colder climate stated they have had some savings on their gas bills? My house is insulated fairly well and not drafty if that helps.
Thanks, - I have used a fireplace insert to heat my previous home which was a poorly insulated 1600 sq. ft. home with bad windows. My home was a ranch which isn't ideal since the home is long versus more vertical. If the fireplace in your home is on the main floor don't expect to heat the basement. If your fireplace is in the basement then you could possibly heat the whole home or at a minimum in either situation you could set your furnace back and use the fireplace insert for the main heat source. My daughter lives in Michigan (similar climate) and heats her entire home with a freestanding wood stove. The home is a 2 story 2300 sq. ft. home with good windows, insulated well, and an open floor plan. All these factors weigh in when trying to figure how well a fireplace insert or wood stove will heat. The bottom line is that fireplace inserts have been used for more than 30 years to heat homes. Some heat the entire home while other homes may be more difficult to heat and even then you'll see a dramatic reduction in heating costs. They are a good investment....Robert
