Well worth the cost
I did a review on NorthLine's YouTube video at: http://youtu.be/EA9e_tMc8ck .
For less than cost of a chimney sweep service call you can easily do your own flue cleaning. Takes a few minutes to get the hang of it & you have to be careful of the flexible rods - they can break if you use too much torque at too much of an angle. I had to go through a 45* angle at the bottom & broke one rod but that was primarily my fault. Once I got the hang of it I was done and cleaning up in about 1/2 hour with a flue that was cleaner than when the sweep visited.
Highly recommend ESPECIALLY if you have a heat reclaimer (Magic Heat) that cools down the flue gasses depositing more soot/creosote in the flue.
Quick & easy!
NOTE!: What I thought was a replacement head was simply hard-core weedeater line (.110???) cut to length. You can buy this stuff by the yard and cut it yourself at many chainsaw repair shops - just take the head (with line) with you to get the right size.

Love this product
I cleaned an almost plugged 8" square chimney this morning with this system and I am pleased in every way. Rods hooked together nicely, instructions on trimming the head were very easy to follow and it powered through some tough creosote like it wasn't even there. No more expensive sweeps(this did a cleaner job than our sweep did). no more climbs to the roof (scared of heights) would recommend this tool to anyone.
Product works well, but customer service has not been good
I bought the Soot Eater to clean the Class A chimney on my woodstove. I have 16' of chimney with 2 15-degree bends, so not straight but very reasonable. I connected 5 rods with no problem. The 5th rod connected, but as soon as I started my cordless drill, the quick connect end popped completely off the rod, leaving me unable to clean the entire length of my chimney. I contacted Northline Express. They said I had to contact the manufacturer, Gardus, for resolution. I called the number they provided (only available during business hours, so not convenient for me, a teacher). They asked for my contact info, but gave no indication of how or when they would resolve this. I have never heard back from them. It is difficult for me to follow up during the day. While the Soot Eater seems to work well, I can't finish cleaning my chimney, so am disappointed in this purchase. If I ever get a resolution to this, I will update my review.

I tried it on a very plugged up chimney, It worked like a charm.
The cap was also plugged, I made a tool to fit on the end that cleaned the cap from the inside out.
Only plastic spin whip
The product does work well with soft creosote.I wish Gardus had a chain flail attachment. I made one myself because I like cleaning from the bottom up.
Can now clean chimney from the ground. Works great. Purchased cleaning system for less than the cost of one professional chimney cleaning.
Does a good job cleaning a flue, especially moving through a 45 degree elbow...did not try a 90. The rods are difficult to disconnect without using the hex key wrench. Need two people for the operation.

I found the item be quite effective on the chimney and flu pipe it was easy to use and looks like it should hold up for awhile.
Very easy to use, NO more ladders. Would highly recommend.
