I had 2 main reasons for buying the rheostat. I have a blower-motor on my woodburning stove, and i thought that one day the switch might break down, so now i leave it turned on high and control on/off with the new rheostat, which is a lot cheaper than taking the blower unit someplace and trying to find a replacement control switch. Reason #2 is that the new rheostat is naturally in a wall outlet, which is located higher up than the control on the stove unit, so i don't have to bend as low as before. So far i am very satisfied. Unit is well-constructed.

I was not thrilled to see that it was made in China, but if it wasn't it would probably be 3 times as expensive. It seems to be a quality unit, and does exactly what I had hoped that it would do, which is to lower the rpm of a cooling fan. Hopefully it will be durable. Only time will tell. Very reasonable cost and super fast shipping. Thanks Northline Express!!

Works great and just as I expected. The fan I bought had a plug on the end of it so this speed contoller fitted the bill, way easier than having to hard wire an inline controller. Highly recommend.

I bought a Majic Heat blower for my woodstove 2 years ago. I love the blower, it's very efficient, however, the manufacturer does not offer variable speed for it's product. It's either on high speed or off, so it was fairly noisy in our family room, where we watch TV. I finally decided to do something about it and thought I'd have to create a gadget in the hardware store electrical deparment. I was very pleased to find this online. Plug it lin and you are good to go. Works great, and at half speed we hardly hear the blower fan any more!

I just replaced the one I bought 24 years ago. Great for fireplace units, but mostly I've needed it as a rheostat to control a freestanding fan which has only three gross settings. $1 or so a year sounds like a great deal to me.

I purchased this product for use with a Vornado desk fan in my over-heated office cubicle. I'm very pleased with now being able to dial-in the fan speed to exactly the comfort level I want and as a bonus the fan is operating in near silence at the lower end of the scale. A suggested improvement to this product would be to add an off/on switch so that you wouldn't have to fiddle with the dial and lose the speed setting when turning on/turning off the unit.
