ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern

ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliances are easy to use, low maintenance devices that make outdoor activities more safe and enjoyable. ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliances create a mosquito-free environment by effectively repelling up to 98 percent of mosquitoes and other insects during outdoor festivities like hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening.

In this article, you will find operating instructions for your ThermaCELL Appliance, trouble shooting advice, and care and maintenance tips that will help you get the most effective mosquito control results with your ThermaCELL Repellent Appliance.

ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern
Instructions for Use
  1. Remove the battery cover on the bottom of the ThermaCELL Lantern and install 4- AA-size batteries (not included.) Make sure that the batteries are correctly placed in the the indicated direction inside of the ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern and replace the battery cover. The batteries will provide light for a maximum of 200 hours on the low setting and 150 hours on the high setting in the ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern.

  2. Remove one ThermaCELL repellent mat from the wrapper. Each repellent mat will last for a maximum of four hours when operating the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Lantern. Repellent mats will turn from pale blue to white when the repellent has been exhausted.

  3. Make sure the ON/OFF button is in the OFF position on your ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance and insert the repellent mat under the metal grill at the top of the ThermaCELL Repellent Lantern.

  4. Remove the top of the ThermaCELL Repellent Lantern and globe from the base by squeezing the latch tabs and lifting out the top of the lantern until it is fully removed from the base.

  5. Remove the butane cartridge cap. Screw the cartridge into the center of the ThermaCELL lantern globe. Make sure the cartridge is fully inserted by turning it clockwise until it stops. Replace the lantern globe on the base. One ThermaCELL butane cartridge will allow the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Lantern to operate for a maximum of 12 hours.

  6. To turn on the lantern light, push the black switch located on the base of the ThermaCELL Lantern. Push the switch to LO for low light or HI for high light and OFF to turn the light off. If the lantern does not light, replace the 4- AA batteries on the bottom of the lantern.

  7. The lantern may be used as a mosquito repellent with or without the light being on. However, for the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern to repel mosquitoes and other flying insects, the mosquito repellent must be activated. To activate the mosquito repellent, slide the ON/OFF button to the ON position and the gas will begin to flow.

  8. Wait approximately 5 to 10 seconds and then depress the START button on the ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern three to five times in rapid succession.

  9. To verify that the mosquito repellent is activated, look at the circular view hole located at the top of the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern. An orange light will glow. If there is no orange light, check to make sure the lantern is ON and the cartridge is completely screwed into place. Also, check the fuel level in the cartridge. If the fuel level in the cartridge is empty or near empty, remove cartridge and replace it with a new ThermaCELL butane cartridge. Then, once again turn the lantern ON and depress the START button three to five times in rapid succession. Check again to make sure the orange light is glowing.

  10. Do not touch the grill as it will be hot after a few minutes. Some visible vapor will appear during use. This is completely normal. When you are finished using the ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern, slide the ON/OFF button to the OFF position. If using the light, push the light switch to OFF to extinguish the lantern light. Allow the lantern to cool completely. After it has cooled down, the ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern is ready for storage.

  11. To replace the repellent mat in the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern, turn off the lantern and allow it to cool completely. Push the used mat out by inserting a fresh mat into its place.

 
Operation Tips Follow these operation tips to get the most effective results from your ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern.
  • Allow the ThermaCELL Repellent Outdoor Lantern a warm up period of 10-30 minutes, depending on the area, to reach its full potential.
  • Use one ThermaCELL Lantern per 225 square feet (15' x 15' or 15 feet in diameter).
  • Do not expose ThermaCELL Lantern or repellent mats to the rain.
  • Do not leave ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern unattended.
  • Do not use ThermaCELL Outdoor Lanterns in windy conditions.

Storage and Disposal

Follow these storage and disposal tips when using your ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Lantern.

  • Store the unused mats in original box in a cool, dry place inaccessible to children and pets. Store lantern and butane cartridges in original box in a cool, dry place away from sources of heat.

  • Non-refillable container. Do not refill or reuse this container. Do not reuse empty packaging wrappers or cartridges with the ThermaCELL Outdoor Repellent Lantern. Do not puncture or incinerate empty cartridges. Place empty ThermaCELL cartridges and repellent mats in trash or recycle them. If ThermaCELL cartridges and repellent mats are partially used, call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Never place unused mats down any indoor or outdoor drain. Recycle unwanted ThermaCELL Lanterns or place them in the trash.

Do not contaminate water, food, or feed by storage or disposal.

 
Care and Maintenance Cleaning
  • Never submerge your ThermaCELL Repellent Appliance/Outdoor Lantern in cleaning solution or water. ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliances and ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lanterns should be cleaned with a damp wash cloth. Simply wipe it down and dry it off.

Repellent Mats

  • ThermaCELL Repellent Appliances and Outdoor Lanterns are low-maintenance devices. Repellent mats will need to changed when they have lost all of their blue coloring and are completely white. At highest setting on the ThermaCELL Lantern, each ThermaCELL repellent mat will last for up to 2 hours. At the lowest setting on the ThermaCELL Lantern, each ThermaCELL repellent mat will last up to 4 hours. In the ThermaCELL Repellent Appliance, a repellent mat will last for up to 4 hours.

Butane Cartridges

  • A a full butane cartridge will last for up to 6 hours on the highest setting in the ThermaCELL Repellent Outdoor Lantern. At the lowest setting, a full butane cartridge will last for up to 12 hours. A full butane cartridge will last for 8-12 hours in the ThermaCELL Handheld Mosquito Repellent Appliance.

Batteries

  • The ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Outdoor Lantern requires 4-AA batteries to operate the LED light. On the highest setting, the batteries will provide 150 hours of light on the lowest setting and up to 200 hours of light on the highest setting. The batteries are not included with the ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern and will need to be changed accordingly.

ThermaCELL Repellent Appliance

 

ThermaCELL also offers a handheld device that is perfect for outdoor activities. This lightweight, cordless, and portable ThermaCELL Repellent Appliance offers protection from mosquito bites and also protects against other biting insects during hunting trips, fishing outings, camping trips, cook-outs, sporting events, and gardening. ThermaCELL Repellent Appliances are an effective, odor free alternative to smelly, greasy sprays and lotions that have to be applied to the skin. They can be taken along to create a mosquito-free environment during any outdoor activity that might be disrupted by buzzing, biting mosquitoes.




ThermaCELL Handheld Mosquito Repellent Appliance
Instructions for Use
  1. Remove one ThermaCELL mosquito repellent mat from the wrapper. When used in a ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance, one mat will last up to 4 hours. The ThermaCELL repellent mat will turn from pale blue to white when active ingredient has been exhausted.

  2. Make sure the ON/OFF switch on the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance is in the OFF position. Insert the mat under the appliance's black grill. To change repellent mats, slide the ON/OFF switch to Off and allow the appliance to cool completely. Push the used repellent mat out by inserting a fresh one into its place.

  3. Remove the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance cover and butane cartridge cap.
  4. Screw the cartridge into the opening of the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance. Make sure the cartridge is fully inserted by turning it clockwise until it stops. Replace the appliance cover. One ThermaCell butane cartridge lasts for 8 to 12 hours. If your ThermaCELL appliance fails to heat, it may be out of fuel. Check the fuel level by holding the appliance vertically and looking at the fuel gauge on the bottom. You can see the amount of butane in the cartridge. Replace the butane cartridge if it's empty.

  5. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. Once in the ON position, the butane gas will begin to flow and power your ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance.
  6. Wait approximately 5-10 seconds then depress the start button on the ThermaCELL Repellent Appliance three to five times in rapid succession.
  7. To verify your ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent Appliance is operating, pick it up and check the lens on the end of the appliance. The light at the end of the appliance glows when the appliance is heating. If the light is not glowing, check to make sure the appliance is ON and the cartridge is completely screwed into place. Depress the start button three to five times in rapid succession and check to make sure the light is glowing.

  8. Place the ThermaCELL Appliance on a flat, stable area with the grill side facing up. Do not touch the grill as it will be hot after a couple of minutes. When finished using the ThermaCELL Appliance, slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position, and allow the appliance to cool completely. After your ThermaCELL Appliance is cooled down, it is ready for storage.
