Details

The Defender Wood Stove combines experience, expertise, and service to offer you a unit that operates for up to eight hours on a single load of wood. The Defender features an airtight, plate steel construction to consistently heat up to 1,200 square feet and maintains a 68,000 BTU rating. This attractive wood stove will enhance any hearth setting with a brilliant view of the burning fire through the air washed ceramic glass window. The Defender is trimmed with pewter accents to reflect the flames and add character to the charcoal black finish.

The Defender Wood Stove is lined with firebrick to ensure complete combustion. Increase the heat output by using adjustable high speed blower (5VZ-F-6) that directs warm air from the firebox and into the room for added comfort. The firebox accommodates logs up to 18" in length. Logs are fed through the front loading cast iron door and secured with a cam lock door latch. The Defender is constructed with adjustable legs and operates with an efficient method that gets the most energy possible out of the wood that you are burning.

Although the Defender Stove is built for heavy-duty use, it is very flexible and serves many other functional purposes. A simple pot of water or steamer set on the top of the wood stove will humidify your home and just a splash of stove scents added to that water will fill your cabin with delightful aroma. Some assembly required.

Great Stove

I have had this stove for 2 yrs the blower quit this year it was always very noisy. I like the stove, I put a small metal rack in the bottom and it really works well now with the wood raised up off the bottom. I did not replace the fan not gonna by that junk again, poor design.

Problem with stove ceramic fiber pad

We are having trouble with the ceramic fiber pad thats on top of the stove. When theres a strong wind the pad gets sucked up the stove pipe and we end up with smoke all thru the house then we have to pull the stove pipe apart an push the pad back down

Love this stove!

It burns great, blower is not that loud, throws a lot of heat. This stove is perfect. The only problem is no ash tray, but it is still a great wood burning stove. Great wide opening for wood. Burns about 6 hours.

This stove just gets better with use. Heats up fast with great secondary burn. The blower isn't really all that noisy & moves alot of heat.

Questions on Vogelzang Defender Wood Burning Stove - TR001B

  • From steve at 10/24/2012 12:29 PM
    • How do you clean the ashes out? Is there an ash pan?
    • There isn't an ash pan on this wood stove. Many wood stoves do not have an ash pan clean-out and although an ash pan makes it easier to clean ashes; the downside is that in many cases the ash pan door can cause the "airtight" wood stove to be less airtight since there is another door which can leak air around the door and thereby feeding the fire. In addition the need for some sort of grate for the ashes to fall through is nice on one hand and can cause a shorter burn time by allowing air to get at a slow burning fire. As with most benefits; there is usually a trade-off. With most wood stoves you simply shovel the ashes out the front into an ash can. We have several options under ash buckets....Robert

    • Hi There,
For the Defender stove, I want to put an adapter on the 6" pipe connected to the stove, changing it to an 8" pipe. Which adapter fits the Defender, the one that fits inside the stove pipe or the one that fits inside the pipe connected to the stove?
      Thanks, Robin
    • You would want to look at a 6" to 8" increaser (not reducer). Depending on the brand of stove pipe or chimney pipe we have several options. See our 6" stove pipe increasers. A couple choices would be Item Code: 5SE-2628B, Item Code: 5IM-BM0062. This increaser would increase the size further up the pipe and is a popular choice and also looks good; Item Code: 5SP-1860. Our customer service reps can help answer any questions as well at 866-667-8454......Robert

    • Hi there,
Do your stoves meet the new ridiculous EPA standards of 12 or less micrograms per cubic meter. I am looking at building a house and we want to use wood heat as a secondary heat source. Do all of your stovers meet this standard or just some models? Thank you.
    • Hi Douglas, At this time we are not certain if the stoves we carry would pass the rigid standards. If it does pass, all manufacturers will be required to retest to see if the stoves will meet the current standards.
