The Shiloh wood burning stove is an air-tight, high efficiency, 3/16" plate steel stove that continuously produces maximum heat output. With the 68,000 BTUs it can produce, the Shiloh is perfect for heating open floor-plan areas such as cabins, Great Rooms and garages up to 1,200 square feet!

 height=

The superior design of the cast iron door uses an air wash system. What an air wash system does is consistently draws air from the top of the stove down past the 14.5'' x 8'' ceramic glass window. This effectively prevents the tar and soot that would normally build up, restricting your view and making maintenance a chore.

 height=

The inside of the Shiloh is lined with firebricks for even greater burning efficiency. The purpose of the firebrick is multifaceted:

  • It helps to insulate the stove so that there is less unintended heat loss from the unit, allowing the heat to be distributed as desired.
  • Firebricks hold up well to extreme temperature changes and possess low thermal conductivity making them an excellent choice for aiding in the efficiency and longevity of your stove.
  • Gives the stove an aesthetically pleasing appearance while not in operation.

In short, a firebrick-lined firebox is key for burning efficiency.

The firebox itself measures 18'' wide x 12'' deep and is capable of holding logs up to 17'' in length. Due to the afore mentioned efficiency qualities, the Shiloh can maintain a burn time of 4-6 hours on one load!

Not only will the Shiloh completely satisfy your heating needs, it can also act as a humidifier when accompanied by a water steamer! Simply place on top and refill occasionally. With just a little bit of Stove Scent, your water steamer can become a fragrance diffuser! Stove Scent fragrance sold separately.

For the money a great quality stove

I have had woodstoves in my homes (4 of them)for the past 30 years. This stove has found its home in my 24'x24' workshop. It does a good job keeping it warm (72 deg) here in southern Va. It does take a while if the woodshop in real cold to start with (like 45 degrees and in the 30's outside), I feel the concrete floor prevents it from heating up the shop faster) As others have mentioned in their reviews opening the door does help in getting the stove up and burning and yes, use dry wood, as that is an important factor in any wood burning stove. The air wash system keeps the glass in the door very clean!! This is a very attractive looking stove, I installed it on a raised hearth that I tiled. If memory serves me I will update my review with a pic. And by the way Northline Express are great to work with. I also purchase my chimney, stove pipe and thru the roof materials from them. One of the insulated chimney pieces was damaged they replaced it promptly with no hassel. Thanks to the folks at Northline Express

Too small

If you plan on keeping a fire going in this unit you had better be ready to tend it once an hour.

Robert's Comment; This stove is designed to heat 'up to" a 1200 square feet home. However, there are a lot of considerations when sizing a stove for a home. An open floor plan helps, the quality of windows and insulation are big factors when trying to determine the 'right' stove to buy. The Shiloh is a smaller stove for sure. I like to go big myself but a wood stove that is too big has to be throttled down too much and can heat you out of an area and also build creosote faster since it's not burning optimally. Our Buy and Try guarantee allows you to use the wood burner for up to 30 days and return it or exchange it if not satisfied.

Great Stove Great Value!

I recently purchased and installed this stove and I LOVE it. Assembly was not complicated and it is easy to start a fire and keeps our home very warm. Burns 5-6 hours for me on a full load of hardwood.
