Love my splitter

Hi guys, just a quick thanks for the quick mail out of my 7 ton wood splitter. I checked it over and all was good. I started to split some wood i had in my old pile and i was CRACKING UP on how it would just pop that wood open. thanks for a great video on you tube.

Great product

This splitter rocks! Does all it's supposed to do! And my wife even likes to use it! I only wish it could be stood up on end for storage. That would be an easy fix by manufacturer.

surpassed expectations

I was skeptical, how could a 7 ton electric tool do the same work as a 23 ton gas powered tool ? But I am interested because an electric wood spliter would have a huge advantage with no maintenance, no gas worry's. I will only use it 4 or 5 time a year the rest it sits there and gas tools do not like to just sit.
It has split everything I have put to it and I use every part of a tree, knots, Y's all the weird stuff and this toll has worked very well with no maintenance you just need to be near electric.
I do recommend this log splitter for the homeowner who rents a splitter a couple times a year to avoid keeping up with maintaining of another gas powered tool and also doesn't want to give the $ 2000 bucks for a gas tool.

The log spliiter does great with hard wood such as locust and oak.

I would recommend this product over a gasoline model. The 7 ton does a great job, and I only wished that they made a stand for this unit. I would buy the stand in a heartbeat. This electric splitter deserves a five star rating.

Excellent product

We have owned this log splitter for over 5 years. It has functioned as advertised and has been very dependable. My husband loves it because he is now able to make his own firewood. Best investment we ever made!

Incredible bit of kit!

There are so many negatives about Chinese-made products being available in the US that it's hard not to become paranoid about everything out of the country and so when looking for the paradox of an inexpensive but quality-built log-splitter, I could not find a modestly-priced US offering and therefore had to consider Chinese-built splitters.

Ultimately, what made the difference to me was that boss of Northline Express himself, demonstrated his confidence in the product by appearing in the demo videos using the splitter.

Being new to the American way of life, It seemed initially that unless it was a gas-powered splitter, everything else would just be a toy and despite researching the hell out of anything to do with splitters, it was till a tough decision to 'bite the bullet' and buy not only a Chinese-made product, but a cheaper-than gas model too. I need not have worried so much!

The unit is heavy, implying solidly-built, simple in design and explosive in action! I had some Hickory rounds which I couldn't break easily previously (without a splitter) and yet after opening the bleed-screw, this thing just cracked open with ease! I couldn't believe it's power and so piled on other rounds and witnessed the Elephant-power just break the fibres as though it was a matchstick ... just incredible! Bearing in mind that at 1500W, it uses the same amount of power as boiling an electric kettle but only uses power when driving the ram home, it says a great deal about electric log-splitter capability.

The cable is short though, so I had to buy a 25', 15amp cable extension (Walmart were the best-priced, but I think Northline should offer one as standard) so bear this in mind if you are planning to split outside, As it was, I used it in the warmth of the garage and it was nothing short of phenomenal!

My only negative point is that I have to kneel to use the machine and will now be researching a method of raising the unit without the need to buy another metal stand, so I can stand and split wood.

So, thank you Northline for the competitively priced unit; thank you Mr Boss; thank you China, for knocking out a better quality product, this time.

Works as Advertised

Purchased this splitter last year, it has lived up to my expectations and more....The two hand operation for the controls was a little awkward so I rigged up a foot switch which worked out well for me. Sometimes you need an extra hand to hold the wood where you where you want it...........(I'm not recommending as something you should do!)
It has been a workhorse so far and I would recommend it for
anyone that splits a lot of wood ever year. My brother-in-law has been waiting to catch it on sale.

Not inpressed

The demonstration seems to be using nice dry oak wood which splits easy . What about other types of wood not soooooo dry!!!???Also when the log was attempted to be split by hand ( maul) we don't know what type of wood he used. Could have been really hard to spit by hand. Is there false impressions here ? Wont buy product until I am convinced more.Beware folks!

Robert's Comment: I'm the guy in the video so I can answer your questions. All of the firewood I cut is either red oak, beech, or maple as this is mostly what's in the woods here. I have a plentiful of dead wood so the wood isn't too wet usually although at times the wind blows down a live tree. However, the firewood in the video is all oak that's been dead for a while (maybe a year or more) but it was still wet inside since un-split firewood will retain moisture for a long time. The piece I was trying to split with a maul was the same oak shown being split in the video (7 ton). I will agree that all of the three types of wood mentioned above are fairly easy to split unless there's a knot or several. And I'm sure there are some types of wood that will be much harder to split like elm for instance. In the video I tried to find the biggest pieces I could lift to give an idea of what power the 7 ton unit does have. The 4 ton is less powerful but still a great splitter for smaller firewood or less frequent use. There are many more reviews here from satisfied customers.

Awesome Log splitter.....

Your Review (submitted on June 8, 2013):

Just one thing there needs to have a two metal point on the pushing block just to keep the wood block in place, so it dose not pop-up back at you. That is all i have seen, works as good as the video on You Tube.I order it on 06/01/2013 pick it up on 06/06/2013 had to add Hydroelectric fluid just about 1 Qrt. and that was all i will see what it dose going to get a load of wood this weekend..Big stuff 20'' round and bigger.....just hope it holds out for some good use, like Eight years and some....Awesome works good just put some big rounds in over 27'' rounds and 16'' long. Just Awesome....Well since i recieved my log slpitter had done 4 1/2 cord of wood just Awesome...What about the drit and wood chips that gets under the motor? will it get in to the motor?
