This product shouldn't even exist. (Ignore what the support reps tell you.)
This is an adapter to 5" DuraBlack or DVL stove pipe. However, DuraTech doesn't even *make* 5" DuraBlack or DVL. The only option is Snap-Lock, but this product doesn't adapt correctly to Snap-Lock pipe. (It should be crimed at the bottom like a male end of a Snap-Lock pipe.) It's slightly too large in diameter to connect to an elbow piece. You can force it to connect to a straight section of Snap-Lock pipe by opening one end of the pipe's seam, inserting the adapter, and snapping the pipe closed as much as possible, though this leaves about half of the pipe un-snapped. The other option is to buy a double-male adapter (i.e. two crimped ends), though that means violating building code, as all crimped ends must point down toward the stove to prevent soot and condensation from dripping out of your pipe and down the side. Ignore what the Northline Express customer service reps tell you. They're either lying or they don't know what they're talking about. I asked them specifically, "How do I connect 5" DuraTech chimney pipe to 5" Snap-Lock stove pipe?" This is what they told me to buy, even when I pointed out that the product description refers only to DVL or DuraBlack.
