The best Firewood storage plans and ideas start with how you will cut your wood

Are you tired of chopping all of your firewood by hand? While a trusty ax or maul is a useful tool, a log splitter such as the Woodeze 4 ton Electric Log Splitter saves you time and energy and makes breaking down even the toughest, knottiest wood, a piece of cake.

Check out our YouTube video where we Demo the Woodeze Electric Log Splitter.

WoodEze 4-Ton Yellow Electric Log Splitter can be used indoors or outdoors

The WoodEze 4-Ton Yellow Electric Log Splitter, model number LS56, can be used indoors or outdoors and plugs into a standard 3 prong, 110 volt, 15 amp. household outlet. Unlike gas powered log splitters that require gas, oil and routine maintenance, the electric models are simply plug and play.

WoodEze Electric Log Splitter is powerful and simple to use

The WoodEze 4-Ton Electric Log Splitter takes all of the energy and effort out of cutting firewood. The dependable 15 Amp, 2.68 horsepower electric engine runs on regular household current and features a ground fault breaker that protects against overload. The Woodeze Log splitter features an all steel construction that offers 4 tons of splitting force. This log splitter will split logs up to 15 inches long and up to 12 inches in diameter.

Safety is a top priority of the WoodEze Electric Log Splitter line of products

The unit does require 2 hands to operate that keeps your hands safe while in operation. One hand is required to push the button to engage the motor and the second hand is needed to push down the lever to engage the ram that moves the log forward into the splitter. If either hand is removed from the button or lever, the unit will stop moving immediately. The two hand operation ensures the safest of operations, because both of you hands are always out of the way of the ram and the splitter.

It is also important that the Wood Eze Log splitter is set up on a flat, and level surface and the area around the splitter should be clear and well lit. The Log splitter should never be used in wet or damp areas and it should never be exposed to rain or snow.

Prior to each use it is a good idea to inspect the log splitter to make sure guards are in place and everything is in good, working order. You will also want to avoid wearing loose clothing, jewelry, rings, and watches. These items can get caught in the splitter and can lead to injury.

Prior to cutting your logs, make sure to inspect the log to make sure there are no nails or foreign objects in the logs. These can cause damage to the machine and injury to the user.

FAQ - Firewood Storage Questions

What is the best way to store firewood? Can i just stack firewood against my house?

It is not a good idea to stack firewood on the ground or against your home. It is recommended to use a firewood rack to hold and store your stacked firewood. Getting the wood off the ground will allow the wood to properly dry out and "season". Properly seasoned firewood with a moisture content under 30 percent will burn hotter, cleaner and longer. Using properly seasoned firewood will also allow your heating appliance to burn more efficiently and  thus prolong the life of your appliance and your chimney system.

If you store firewood on the ground or against a building, it will trap moisture underneath and will become a breeding place for rodents and insects. Over time these pests will eventually find their way into your home. Air will also not be able to properly circulate around your wood and will take it longer to dry out.

Is it OK to store firewood outside?

It is perfectly find to store your firewood outside of the home on a firewood rack. However, you want your firewood to remain as dry as possible. If you live in an area where you get lots of rain and snow, it is recommended to place the firewood under a structure such as a portable garage or shed. These garages allow air to properly circulate around the wood and helps to keep it dry at the same time. The dryer the wood can stay the better it will age and season and the better heat you will get from your heating appliance.

What is the difference between a face cord and a full cord of firewood?

We have a helpful article in our Resource Center that describes the a Face Cord vs. a Full Cord of firewood. If you are more of a visual person check out this YouTube Video to Learn the difference between Face and Full Cords of Firewood.

What is a Wind and Snow Load Rating for Garages and Sheds and why does it matter?

A wind rating refers to the amount of wind the building can withstand over a prolonged amount of time and is specified in miles per hour. A snow load rating indicates the weight of snow the building can physically hold, and is designated in pounds per square foot, or PSF. When purchasing an outdoor storage shed, you want to make sure you are adding the right product to your home for your area's climate. If you anticipate high winds or heavy snow, make sure to purchase storage buildings that are wind and snow load rated. They have been tested to hold up to the harsh winter conditions.
