This ember retainer works really well. I had a hard time starting fires and keeping them burning because my fireplace grate sits fairly high above the floor of the fire place. The ember retainer catches the embers and keeps them close to the wood, which keeps the fire going. Now, starting and maintaining fires is easy. This is a very good product.
