      The best I’ve found

Posted by Jules on Jan 10th 2022

I have been using this product for nearly 20 years now and am very happy with the way it removes the dangerous creosote from our wood furnace chimney. While we always burn very well seasoned hardwoods, a little bit of creosote still forms on the walls of our stovepipe. (We heat 4800 sq ft and burn our wood furnace full blast 24 hrs a day for 6 months out of the year.) But using this powder every week, turns the sticky tar-like creosote that is formed into a soft light powder rendering the creosote harmless so it’s no longer a danger of causing a chimney fire. The creosote powder left behind is so much easier to clean off when we sweep the chimney periodically throughout the burning season. I have used several types and brands of creosote remover over the years, but this one from Rutland is the absolute best and well worth the price paid when compared to losing everything we own if we didn’t use it.

We purchased this as a replacement for an item recommended by our chimney sweep. The part number is identical (#98) to our old product even though the manufacturer appears to have slightly changed the description. Our old product said "for wood stoves and fireplaces." This now says "for air tight wood stoves and fireplace inserts." Either way, it works.
