Description

New Lock-Top II 13" x 13" Chimney Cap/Damper - This premier energy-saving product is 90% more efficient than a traditional throat damper. With todays skyrocketing energy costs, the dollars saved in heat loss make a cap/damper combination a better choice than a chimney cap alone. The energy savings will quickly pay for the installation.

The Lock-Top II Chimney Cap/Damper arrives fully assembled and ready to install. The base mounts to a sweep's ring which then is connected to the flue tile with a high temp silicone sealant. A 30' stainless steel cable drops down the flue, and a hardware set mounts in the firebox. The end result is a damper that opens and closes with ease at the tug of a drop down cable. The Lock-Top II is equipped with a fire safety device that enables the damper to remain open in case of a chimney fire.

*Top-sealing dampers are not recommended with gas logs- failure to open could cause carbon monoxide to back up into the house.

Flimsy, deceptive warranty

"My first one lasted about 6 years, at which time the spring failed. Lymance replaced it through Northline per their ""Lifetime Warranty"". After about 6 years the second one failed."

This cap was easy to install and will make maintenance. . .

"Replaced the Fluorescent lights in my shop and at work. Easy to do and work great."

The product is well made and was easy to install using. . .

"The product is well made and was easy to install using the instructions provided. I have two suggestions that will make the product even better. 1 The unit replaced was a firebox top damper that had failed. The frame of it formed the top of the firebox and had to stay in place. That means the cable has to make slight corner to reach the bracket. A short length of stainless steel tube would permit that turn and protect the cable from abarasion over time. I will be pleased to beta test one for you and report back. 2 Please break the edges of the bracket. I was attempting to clean the tiles in the firebox and inadvertently cut my hand on the sharp edges of the bracket. This can be done efficiently with a tumbler box."

The chimney cap w/damper works well

"The chimney cap w/damper works well. I purchased a piece of stainless steel 6 wide x 24 cut in 1/2 to use as an extender support to secure the cap to the top of the flue liner. The cap did not have enough width on the bottom to secure it with the wind and weather. Otherwise - great idea."
