Spitfire Fireplace Heater - Made in the USA

Are you looking for a way to get more heat out of your fireplace? Then look no further than the Spitfire 4 tube fireplace heater with blower. This product is made in the USA and is designed to dramatically increase the convection heat coming from your fireplace by pushing the hot air further into the living space. This simple addition to your home will produce up to 35,000 BTU of additional heat at 50 cfm.

Fireplace blower fits under the grate and pushes heat into the room like a fan

The Spitfire 4 tube Fireplace Heater with blower features a unique design that allows the exchanger tubes to fit within most fireplaces and because of the smaller profile, it can fit into smaller fireplaces than many other tube style heaters on the market. The four exchanger tubes connect to a blower unit that can deliver warm air at two different speed settings from 30 cfm up to 50 cfm.

Spitfire Installation Instructions

The Spitfire Fireplace Heater with 4 tube Blower is easy to use and simple to install. The inside dimensions of your fireplace should be at least 1 to 2 inches wider on the sides and back than the heater itself. Then assemble the blower tubing to the heat exchanger tubes and place the unit into your fireplace. You will want to place the heater in the center of the fireplace with the tube protruding out of the front opening.

The blower can connect to the right or left side of the unit. The tube is flexible and will stretch to a longer length to be able to install into almost any project.

Place wood on the unit's base and start a moderate fire which will achieve your best efficiency in heat
production. Be sure the damper is in the OPEN POSITION BEFORE LIGHTING THE FIRE. There
will be a smell as the first burn will burn off the oil in the tubes. This is normal.

It is recommended to use a high temperature silicone sealant to make sure that all the connections are sealed properly. This will help increase the amount of warm air that is pushed into the living space.

A Fireplace Screen should always be used when a fire is burning and the Spitfire Fireplace Heater is in operation. Check out our selection of Fireplace Screens.

If you need help selecting the proper Fireplace Screen then check out the Choosing a Fireplace Screen article on our Resource Center.

Fireplace blower is designed to be used with wood burning fireplaces and can be used with Gas Logs as long as safety guidelines are always met.

SAFETY GUIDELINES

  • The blower box should never be placed inside of the fireplace.
  • It is important to never overfill the box with firewood as over firing the unit can cause damage that is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
  • The blower helps to cool down the unit properly and as such: the unit should never be operated without the blower attached.
  • In the case of a power outage you will need to remove the unit from your fireplace before lighting a fire.
  • Product Note: The product can be used with gas logs. However, the only time this product would be able to be used with gas is if the burner is able to fit under the unit.
  • The unit may be used with a fireplace door as long as the door is open during use and the tubes and exhaust are not blocked by the frame of the fireplace doors.
  • BEFORE YOU BURN: There will be a smell on the first burn as the oil in the tubes will burn off. This is normal. WARNING: If you have birds and animals in the house. They should be removed from the house on the first burn. People that are asthmatic and children should also not be in the area during the first burn. Not for use in see-thru fireplaces.

With a 1 year replacement warranty and universal sizing it's easy to see why the Spitfire Fireplace Heater - 4 Tube with Blower is one of the best fireplace blower kits on the market.

Is a blower on a fireplace worth it?

In most fireplaces, the majority of heat is lost up the chimney system. By utilizing a blower system such as the Spitfire Fireplace Heater - 4 Tube with a blower, you are able to push a lot of the warm air into the living space. The other benefit of a tube heater is that it is pushing clean convection air into the room, while the exhaust is still sent up the chimney.

How does a fireplace blower work?

The Spitfire Fireplace heater tubes act as a heat exchanger and as the fire burns above them, the steel tubing heats up and the attached blower unit pushes the warm air into the living space.

How to install fireplace blower?

The Spitfire Fireplace 4 tube heater with blower is easy to install. All you have to do is connect the blower to the heat exchanger tubes via a flexible tubing and plug the blower in. Then you place the unit inside of the firebox, while keeping the blower box outside of the fireplace. Then you start a fire and let the unit do all the work from there. Also here are the Spitfire Installation Instructions.

When does fireplace blower turn on?

This Spitfire Heater has a blower unit that has an OFF, LOW and High Setting. Once you get your fire burning, you simply turn on the blower and once the tubes start to heat up, air will start to push into the room. It is important to never operate the unit without having the blower unit turned on. The blower helps cool down the unit properly.

Can you add a blower to an existing fireplace?

As long as you have a single sided fireplace and the dimensions of your fireplace meet or exceed the minimum requirements for the blower then you can add a blower unit to your masonry or factory built wood burning fireplaces.

Dramatically increase the amount of heat coming from your fireplace. Long-lasting, heavy-gauge steel tubes heat air to over 400 degrees; pushing up to 35,000 BTU's of heat into the room. The Spitfire Heart Heater has a smaller profile that allows it to fit into smaller fireplaces.

  • NOT for use in see-thru fireplaces
  • Dual speed blower connects to the grate with flexible tubing to allow for blower positioning.
  • Simple and easy assembly and installation.
  • 7 Foot Power Cord

Good product

"Love the heat from it. I have the bigger blower motor. Works great. Main issues or I would have given it a 5 is the grate is too low. You have to remove the entire unit to clean the fireplace and if you want to keep the coals down as they requested from the seller, it’s impossible to get a small fireplace shovel in there to remove if you wanna burn for long periods. Should be designed with a higher grate. When I questioned this they said to put fireplace bricks under the unit but you shouldn’t have too. It should be designed correctly. Bottom line is, the unit or grate is too low. Should be 1. 5-2” higher."

Addressing the smell

"For those concerned about the smell of the first burn. I would suggest starting a moderate fire outside and place the spitfire heater in the fire. This will ""season it"" and burn away the oils and smelly stuff out of your house. Those concerned about how low it sits in the fire place, put a fire brick under each corner to raise it up. This will promote better air flow under your fire. It will also make it easier to scoop out the ashes from underneath when it's time to clean up a bit. Hope this helps."

"Product came earlier then expected, works great, heated up my living room great."

Spitfire 4 tube

"We are loving this heater/blower, it does warm up the front of the house from 4-6 degrees. WE do wish that the blower was a bit stronger."

Pros and cons

"First burn was definitely smelly, had to have windows and door open as it felt toxic to us. Animals weren’t in the house and I highly recommend making sure yours aren’t either. The smell gave us headaches. Two pros few cons: Pros: the unit looks great and is easy to set up. It definitely produces heat and works as advertised so it’s a great option for increasing heat from your fireplace. Con: the fan in the black box is somewhat noisey, similar to a white noise sound machine. It’s not annoying but it could be quieter. The rack itself isn’t great at keeping the wood from popping out, there is no guardrail really or tilt to the wrack like a normal fire rack holding the wood in. Also it would be great if the tubes were a little longer or able to be customized to fit the fireplace so you can push the rack all the way back and not have to pull the fire forward. If we had the option to customize the tube length, we maybe would have taken it Over all definitely w great product, just wanted to be honest on what to expect. I would say worth the money so far. Took about a full hour or so for full burn to get rid of oil smell."

Murphy G. (4/5)

Not bad

"Spitfire works and does produce nice heat, however with some tweaks it could be great. Problem #1- tubes are too short so the hot air coming out of them tends to blow smoke into the room. This is because you have to have the tubes pulled towards the front of the firebox to try and avoid them blowing aforementioned smoke. Problem #2- the fan is too weak Problem #3- the supplied """"inlet tube"""" is junk and will easily break after being manipulated several times. Where can I buy a better fan?"

Paul U. (3/5)

Pain in the Yang.

"I am so disappointed in this. First of all it’s way too small! I wished I would have thought. The other blower they sell is too big so we bought this and now we have wasted space on each end. The tubes in center have NO grate under so everything burns down and Falls underneath which leads to no air so stops burning and just smoldering. Why wouldn’t there be a grate in between the blower tubes. It sits wayyyy to low and you can’t even move anything around underneath because the tubes so low to bottom of fire place. I would like to ask “WHO came up with this” stop selling and call us to give you some advice. The space between tubes and front grate is so wide sticks/logs roll out ( not like a normal grate that is curved upward) you might as well sit there constantly and TRY and maintain fire. Positive the blowers are great and out warm/ hot air out. Blower is a tad loud so the “feel” of fireplace and crackling is gone. But I can live with that. Really needs to be rebuilt."

Matt C. (3/5)

Wonderful. Works as advertised, but could have options

"I ordered the 4 Tube w/ Blower Spitfire Fireplace Heater. Great device. I would like to suggest a quieter blower, or a blower with a potentiometer-dial instead of a 2-setting, on/off. Also - since I have an open 2-way fireplace, it would be great to have the blower (cool air) output entering from the rear of the pipe input, so the blower could be bringing in cool air from one room and the output heating the room on the other side of the fireplace. If this is not possible, then an option reverse-direction input-tube would be great (to do the same thing). This would give the option of attaching a blower from either the front or the back. -- As it stands now, I have to go to Home Depot to get a steel air-tube to do the reverse-input myself. Just sayin'. . ."

William M. (5/5)

Heater Tubes are too short

"To prevent the smoke from coming into the room the fireplace heater much be placed near the back of fireplace. This causes heat loss that escapes up the chimney. Tubes need to be 3 to 5 inches longer."
