By raising your firewood off of the ground, air is allowed to circulate and cure the wood to provide a cleaner, more complete burn. Properly cured wood burns more efficiently thus, reducing the amount of harmful creosote build up in your chimney and it burns hotter; a huge plus on those bitter winter days!
