8-inch DVL Black Chimney Stove Pipe - Top Rated Double-Wall Stove Pipe

If you are looking to add extra heat to the room your wood stove is installed in, then choosing a double wallstove pipe such as the DVL brand will give you the closest clearances and will help provide a strong and steady draft. The DVL pipe is designed to be used between your wood stove appliance and the first time the venting will pass through a wall or ceiling.

DVL is a double-wall stove vent pipe that is air-insulated and manufactured by DuraVent

DVL’s double wall stove pipe features an air-insulated design that reduces clearances to combustibles from 18 inches down to 6 inches. A 6-inch minimum clearance is the closest clearance to a wall of any connector pipe on the market. DuraVent's DVL improves stove performance by maintaining high flue gas temperatures which helps provide a strong, steady draft. The inner wall is stainless steel. The stainless steel construction has a number of benefits. It allows the flue to heat up faster and the flue stays hot longer. It also helps minimize the formation of creosote, which helps reduce the risk of chimney fires. It even has the same life expectancy as the chimney. DVL offers adjustable length sections which helps eliminate the need for cutting or crimping.

The DVL stove pipe is designed to connect your wood stove or fireplace to class-A venting

DVL stove pipe is a double wall chimney pipe that is designed to connect to your wood stove appliance and then can be run from the appliance to the first time the venting will pass through a wall or ceiling. At the first wall or ceiling, the DVL pipe will need to transition to a Class A Chimney Pipe. The DVL pipe can not be used outside of the home and it can only used in a location that is approved for Class A chimney pipe.

The reason most people want to use a stove pipe is because the stove pipe radiates more heat into the living space than a Class A chimney pipe. This allows your system to get more heat from each fire and allows you to use less wood to heat your home.

DVL stove pipe can only be used to complete venting systems that utilize DuraVent brand chimney components

DVL double wall chimney stove pipe is designed to complete the venting system when used with one of Dura Vent’s line of chimney products. The DVL chimney stove pipe can be used with DuraTech, DuraTech Canada, DuraPlus, or DuraTech Premium. It can not be used with any other brand of chimney.

DuraVent is the premier manufacturer of the venting industry. They have been a staple of the industry for over 50 years and they design their products with safety, innovation, and function in mind.

DVL stove pipe installation notes

  • Use only authorized DuraVent DVL parts
  • Do not mix with a single-wall stove pipe
  • Do not mix with other products or improvise solutions
  • Do not install damaged parts
  • All wood-burning appliances require their own separate connector pipe and chimney system
  • DO NOT ENCLOSE DOUBLE-WALL CONNECTOR PIPE or fittings and/or pass through walls, ceilings, attics or closets
  • DVL Pipe cannot be cut
  • DVL (Close Clearance Connector) pipe will exhibit a moderate paint-like odor and smoke during the first few uses. This is the normal curing of the finish and will disappear after a few uses of the appliance
  • A MAJOR CAUSE OF VENT-RELATED FIRES IS FAILURE TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED CLEARANCES (AIR SPACES) TO COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS. IT IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE THAT DVL (CLOSE CLEARANCE CONNECTOR) BE INSTALLED ONLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL

FAQ - 8-inch DVL Stove Pipe

Does the double wall chimney pipe get hot?

Yes. When a fire is burning in your stove, a majority of the heat will pass up and through your DVL double wall chimney stove pipe. The pipe will be very hot and will burn anyone who tries to touch it. The reason it is hot to the touch is because it is designed to be thinner than traditional Class A chimney pipe, that way the heat can radiate out into the living space.

How close can a double-wall chimney pipe be to wood?

DVL’s double wall stove pipe features an air-insulated design that reduces clearances to combustibles from 18 inches down to 6 inches. A 6-inch minimum clearance is the closest clearance to a wall of any connector pipe on the market.

Is double wall stove pipe better than single wall?

Double wall stove pipe allows a closer clearance requirement to combustibles than single wall does. A single wall will radiate more heat than a double wall but must be installed further away from the wall. You will want to check with your state and local building codes as well as the appliance manual to determine the closest clearance you can have in your area.

How safe is a double-wall stove pipe?

If installed properly according to state and local building codes, double wall chimney pipe is safe for use in homes and the DVL brand pipe can even be used in some manufactured homes. The safest pipe is Class A stainless steel pipe, as this does not get as hot on the outside of the pipe as a single-wall or double-wall pipe will.
